SUMMARY:Friday Night Shabbat — Featuring Jeremy Ben-Ami of J Street
DESCRIPTION:Tonight’s service will feature a guest drash by Jeremy Ben-Ami\, the president of J Street\, the political home for pro-Israel\, pro-peace\, pro-democracy Americans. After services\, you are invited to join us for snacks (catered by Schmaltz & Vinegar!) and a Q&A session with Jeremy to learn more about his work and how we can get involved. Thanks to Ari Levine for sponsoring kiddush in honor of their birthday! \nDuring the High Holidays this past year\, Rabbi Lizzi shared the life-changing impact of her experience as a bone marrow donor through Gift of Life. Inspired by her story\, we’re excited to bring this opportunity to the Mishkan community by hosting two donor drives during upcoming Shabbat services on 4/10/26 and 5/8/26. Volunteers will be on site with swabbing stations to help participants complete their swab kits and learn whether they are eligible to become a donor—and potentially save a life. \nWatch the livestream on Mishkan’s YouTube channel. \nFor more information about Gift of Life\, visit their website. \nLooking to help out? We’re in need of volunteer greeters to welcome people into Mishkan before services. You can sign up here or email Michael at michael@mishkanchicago.org for more information!

SUMMARY:Unlearning Jewish Anxiety with Rabbi Dr. Caryn Aviv
DESCRIPTION:Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld made Jewish anxiety funny for a broad audience\, but for many Jews\, it’s just reality. Why? How did this happen? And what if we don’t actually want that anxious inheritance? Join Rabbi Dr. Caryn Aviv of Judaism Your Way as she discusses her new book\, Unlearning Jewish Anxiety\, with Rabbi Lizz in our minyan on Contact Chai. \n  \nRabbi Dr. Caryn Aviv is Rabbinic Director at Judaism Your Way in Denver\, CO. She’s a recovering academic in sociology and Jewish studies\, and a (mostly) formerly anxious Jew. Unlearning Jewish Anxiety is her fourth book. \nMinyan Zoom

SUMMARY:Morning Minyan with Yiscah Smith: Planting Seeds of the Divine
DESCRIPTION:In this special Morning Minyan\, Rabbi Lizzi will be joined by Jerusalem-based thought leader\, spiritual activist and author Yiscah Smith for a discussion of her new book\, Planting Seeds of the Divine: Torah Commentaries. Yiscah will be returning to Chicago for Pride Weekend in June and doing an in-person talk at Mishkan\, so this is a teaser for that\, and spiritual boost to enliven your day! You can join us at our regular Morning Minyan link. \nBio:  \nYiscah Smith is a thought leader\, spiritual activist\, international speaker\, and author who addresses “Jewish Identity Redefined.” She envisions this next era in Jewish history “returning forward” to a God centered Judaism—emphasizing a fresh and vibrant Jewish identity — radically compassionate\, kind\, joyful\, confident\, unapologetic\, spiritual\, holistic and unifying — with pride\, dignity and joy\, an informed contemporary Jew familiar with the Jewish story\, honoring our past and creating a new path into our future. Yiscah teaches at the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies\, Applied Jewish Spirituality (AJS) and the Institute for Jewish Spirituality (IJS). Yiscah travels the globe sharing her ideas that are both spiritual texts supported and creative as well. She graciously accepts invitations for scholar-in-residence and keynote speaker engagements. Her newest book\, Planting Seeds of the Divine: Torah Commentaries to Cultivate Your Spiritual Practice\, was recently published by the Jewish Publication Society (JPS) and the University of Nebraska Press (UNP).
