SUMMARY:Our Palestine Question: A Conversation With Author Geoffrey Levin
DESCRIPTION:Join author Geoffrey Levin for a conversation with Rabbi Lizzi about his new book\, Our Palestine Question: Israel and American Jewish Dissent\, 1948-1978. In this book\, Levin recovers the voices of American Jews who\, in the early decades of Israel’s existence\, called for an honest reckoning with the moral and political plight of Palestinians. In reconstructing this hidden history\, Levin lays the groundwork for more forthright debates over Palestinian rights issues\, American Jewish identity\, and the U.S.-Israel relationship more broadly. The book has won multiple awards\, including the American Jewish Historical Society Academic Council’s Saul Viener Book Prize\, awarded biennially to an outstanding book focused on the history of Jews in the Americas. \nRegister

SUMMARY:Chicago 101 with the Mishkan Local Action Team
DESCRIPTION:Join the Mishkan Local Action Team for a different kind of Jewish learning — exploring how our city works and how we can work for our city. Rooted in Jewish values of justice\, responsibility\, and collective action\, we’ll dig into the structure of Chicago’s government — from elected officials to the city budget — and how these systems shape our daily lives. Engaging in elections and voting isn’t just civic duty — it’s a Jewish value. When we learn together as a community\, we become the most informed\, powerful advocates we can be. Chicago is known as “The City that Works” — and when we organize\, we can make it work for everyone. \nRegister

SUMMARY:A Heart of Many Rooms: Sharing Our Stories About Israel and Palestine
DESCRIPTION:As conflict continues to impact Israelis\, Palestinians\, and all those who call that part of the world home\, sometimes it can feel like we are living in two different realities: our lives here\, and our fear\, anger\, and sadness about what is happening overseas. Join other Mishkanites to share what is on our hearts and minds in this moment\, as we explore our relationship to that land and its peoples. This is a facilitated discussion space led by Rabbi Steven\, to create a community of care amidst complexity. This program is sponsored by Maggie’s Place. \nRegister
