SUMMARY:Adult BMitzvah Cohort
DESCRIPTION:Maybe you never celebrated becoming a b’mitvah. Maybe you did—and want a chance to return with new questions and a deeper sense of who you are today. Our Adult BMitzvah Cohort is an opportunity to dive deeper into your Judaism by embracing an important ritual of Jewish adulthood (no matter your age!) Together\, we’ll explore what it means to be a Jew now\, build skills in Torah reading\, and develop our own interpretations of text. \nThe cohort unfolds over three modules: in April\, we explore what it means to become BMitzvah and our own Jewish journeys; in May we will learn trope; and in July we will write own drash (short sermons). We’ll culminate with two Saturday mornings in August\, where we’ll learn the flow of the service and celebrate together as you mark this moment publicly with the Mishkan community. Cohort participants must be Mishkan Builders and have learned the aleph bet prior to beginning the class (there are apps!) \nRegister

Bob was Senior Rabbi of Congregation Etz Chaim in Lombard\, IL for 35 years. Rabbi Bob serves as a Guest faculty member at Wheaton College and as an Instructor at the Hebrew Seminary for the Hearing and the Deaf. He is a leader of the faculty of Olin-Sang-Ruby Union Institute. He is a recipient of the Rabbi Mordecai Simon Award from the Chicago Board of Rabbis and Rabbi Samuel Cook Award from the CCAR.\nHis newest book is When Judaism Began: Exploring the Books of Ezra and Nehemiah (2026). He is also the author of Go to Nineveh (2013) and Jonah and the Meaning of Our Lives (2016). Ha’aretz named Rabbi Bob as one of the 36 American Jews who helped shape the 2008 Presidential election.

Inspired by her story\, we’re excited to bring this opportunity to the Mishkan community by hosting a donor drive tonight. Volunteers will be on site with swabbing stations to help participants complete their swab kits and learn whether they are eligible to become a donor—and potentially save a life. SUMMARY:Adult BMitzvah Cohort
DESCRIPTION:Maybe you never celebrated becoming a b’mitvah. Maybe you did—and want a chance to return with new questions and a deeper sense of who you are today. Our Adult BMitzvah Cohort is an opportunity to dive deeper into your Judaism by embracing an important ritual of Jewish adulthood (no matter your age!) Together\, we’ll explore what it means to be a Jew now\, build skills in Torah reading\, and develop our own interpretations of text. \nThe cohort unfolds over three modules: in April\, we explore what it means to become BMitzvah and our own Jewish journeys; in May we will learn trope; and in July we will write own drash (short sermons). We’ll culminate with two Saturday mornings in August\, where we’ll learn the flow of the service and celebrate together as you mark this moment publicly with the Mishkan community.
