SUMMARY:Get to Know Your Neighbors: High Holiday Edition
DESCRIPTION:The High Holidays are a time for reflection\, renewal\, and—if we’re being honest—a little bit of anxiety about seeing everyone again. Before the days arrive\, gather for a Shabbat meal with fellow Mishkanites to get to know one another and discuss the themes of the season. Generous Builders are opening up their homes and providing a main course for this potluck-style meal. Read on for more info from each host\, then click here to register. \n\nGold Coast – Hosted by Lisa Portnoy\, this elevator-accessible dinner promises great food\, great conversation\, and great company.\nGold Coast (second dinner)– Hosted by Mark and Patty Weiner\, this accessible\, all-ages dinner is warm\, welcoming\, and conversational.\nLogan Square – Hosted by Emma Epstein and Josh Stillman\, this cozy dinner is in a small but accessible apartment. They have two young kids and love to sing. There’s a dog in the house but she’ll be closed away in the bedroom for the evening.\nAndersonville – Hosted by Liz Schuller and Timothea Canny\, this low-key dinner is up half a flight of stairs. They also have a dog.\nAndersonville (second dinner) – Hosted by Danny and Andrea Alpert\, this fish and dairy meal has a few steps and no pets.\nEvanston – Hosted by Joel Brown and Julie Strauss\, this kosher-style dinner has three steps to enter (with a railing). Dress up for Shabbat\, but come as yourself. Expect a mostly vegetarian meal\, though meat isn’t off the table. We are newer Builders at Mishkan and are looking forward to meeting other community members! We have no pets and are kid friendly (though our own kids are now adults!).\nDeerfield/North Suburbs – Hosted by Jodi Eisenstadt\, this kid-friendly\, song-filled dinner includes vegan and gluten-free options\, with two guitars waiting to be played. There are about four steps to the kitchen and dining area\, and while two cats live in the home\, they’ll be kept in another room. If the weather cooperates\, dinner may be on the deck.\nOld Irving Park – Aimee and Ben Schuster will host a casual\, family-friendly dinner. Our home has ~10 front steps to reach the door. We have a well-behaved dog\, and a moderately-well-behaved 9-year-old daughter.\n\nRegister!
