Rabbi Zack Weiner

R’Zack Wiener

Sobriety Group Facilitator

Rabbi Zack Wiener is a rabbi, chaplain, and Jew-at-large in Chicago. He graduated from the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in 2020. Zack completed his chaplain residency at Rush University Medical Center, specializing in inpatient oncology and global health catastrophe. He also worked at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital, running spirituality groups and providing existential care for adults and teens in the hospital’s inpatient psychiatric, substance abuse, OCD, and school refusal programs. Nowadays, he is the lead chaplain at Saint Francis Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center in Evanston.

Zack is motivated in his work by a fundamental, yet-unshakeable belief derived from years of Torah study, patient care, and personal experience: existing can be an erratic and unpredictable endeavor, but in it all, we humans are inherently worthy, wise, creative, and fascinating creatures.

Outside of work, Zack sits on the couch, often with his husband Amir. When not sitting on the couch, he spends his time pestering friends on group chats, teaching on various Jewish topics, officiating life-cycle events, and guzzling seltzer water (Spindrift Blood Orange and Polar Grapefruit flavors, preferably.)
