Get to Know Your Neighbor Shabbat

January 30

We’re not doing a traditional service this week, so we’ve enlisted eight Mishkan Builders to help us keep the Shabbat vibes going in their homes across town! This is a great chance to get to know some of the people in our community who may live just around the corner. All ages welcome for a potluck-style Shabbat dinner (the hosts are graciously preparing the main dish).

Spots are filling fast! See below for remaining dinners with openings:

  • Oak Park: Hosted by Hila Ratzabi and Jose Villegas, this meal is loosely kosher (mostly dairy/vegetarian). The home is full of creativity, and there will be a few kids running around. No nuts, and a few stairs!
  • Long Grove: Hosted by Aaron and Lauren Weiner, this meal is meat and dairy-free, and can truly accommodate gluten free (they even have a separate oven!) Their home is situated on a nature preserve, so there’s lots of wildlife (deer especially!) and a great view of the sunset over the prairie. Kid-friendly! Three stairs, three friendly dogs (that can be leashed if needed), and way more than three spots to park!
  • West Rogers Park: Hosted by Michelle and Stacy Broxman, the vibe is queer family chaos! They have a preschooler and a toddler, and put sprinkles in the challah about 50% of the time. There’s about eight steps to the door and one mostly hypoallergenic dog.
  • West Rogers Park (New Dinner!): Hosted by Elena Grossman and Noa Padowitz who have a sports obsessed 1st grader and no pets. The Shabbat vibe is super relaxed and friendly. There are some steps up to the front door, and they have guest parking permits for street parking.
