In Conversation With Rodger Kamenetz
May 6 @ 8:30 am - 9:30 am CDT
Following Morning Minyan, Rabbi Lizzi will host a conversation with celebrated author Rodger Kamenetz. Next week, we will be welcoming Rodger soon as our scholar-in-residence for our Shavuot suite of programming, so this is an opportunity to meet him beforehand!
Bio: Rodger Kamenetz is an award winning Jewish poet and author. He founded and directed the Jewish Studies program at LSU where he retired as Sternberg Honors Chair. He’s best known for the international best-seller The Jew in the Lotus which became a PBS documentary. The New York Times called it “a revered text” and Moment named it one of the top 25 Jewish non-fiction books of the past fifty years. The sequel Stalking Elijah won the National Jewish Book Award for Jewish Thought. The History of Last Night’s Dream was featured on Oprah Winfrey’s Soul Series and he currently leads an international group of Natural Dreamwork practitioners who use dreams for spiritual growth. A widely anthologized poet, his eight books of poetry include The Missing Jew: Poems 1976-2022. His most recent book Seeing into the Life of Things: Imagination and the Sacred Encounter offers daily Jewish practices for overcoming afflictive emotions such as extreme anxiety and reactive anger. He “inspires us to use our imagination and our dreams… to inhabit our world more fully and joyfully.” (Robert Moss).
