Join Pastah J and our friends at the Lawndale Christian Community Church for a Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration. Over 55 years ago Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. moved into North Lawndale and voiced these words: “we have some challenging days ahead, some great and noble opportunities to make this a beautiful city that sits on the banks of Lake Michigan.” For most people still living in North Lawndale they are still waiting for opportunities mentioned in this quote to be realized in their North Lawndale community and their lives. On this day we will celebrate MLK’s work of the past, talk about the working taking place in North Lawndale, and the opportunities before us in the areas of housing and economic development. Following the event, Mishkanites and leaders from Lawndale Community Church will gather for discussion from 2 – 3 pm.
