Four days of joyful prayer, music, and high holy inspiration.
High Holidays at Mishkan Chicago are a chance to enter a reflective and joyful space, to sift through the chaos and pain of this past year, and gain strength and inspiration from our tradition, our music, our prayers, and our community. During the High Holidays, we recommit to the places, people, and issues that matter most in our lives, and envision the world as it could be. Whether you join us in-person at or via our state-of-the-art livestream, we always look forward to reflecting, dreaming, and davening with you about how we build our world from love — together.
Get a feel for Mishkan’s services by watching highlights of our rabbis’ thought-provoking sermons and our trademark musical, uplifting davening in our 5786 High Holidays YouTube playlist. Read on below for more information.
Get Inspired
If you’ve been to the High Holidays with us before, then you know just how energetic, powerful, musical, and moving they can be. Our services are both traditional and creative — we find fresh ways of breaking out of the rote and obligatory to dive deeper into the spiritual intentions of our cherished ancient practices, so you can leave feeling more connected to our tradition and community, and to your highest aspirations for yourself in the new year.
Accessible & Affordable
High Holidays at Mishkan are a uniquely accessible, joyful, and welcoming experience for people of all backgrounds and levels of Jewish learning. That includes non-Jewish family — we would love to meet your non-Jewish partner or parent! Our musical davening is approachable, with easy to follow slides showing all the words in Hebrew and transliteration. We always keep our ticket prices affordable, and anyone in financial need has the option to purchase at a reduced price.
Family Programs
We pride ourselves in the quality and variety of our High Holiday family offerings. From our main Family Services on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur to our thrilling Museum of Awe interactive instillation, your children will be engaged spiritually and intellectually no matter their age. Builder families (what’s a Builder?) can also make use of our Lil’ Builder Drop-Off service. Teens aren’t left out of the fun: not only do they have activities of their own, they play a vital role in the creation and running of the Museum of Awe!
High Holiday Livestream
Can’t make it to our High Holiday services in-person? Don’t fret!
