In commemoration of Yom HaShoah, Mishkan invites you to attend a performance of Concentration, an adaptation of a book by Chicago poet Arne Weingart written as a dramatic monologue from inside a World War II death camp. Fifty short, spare poems, voiced by four actors and accompanied by live musical interludes and striking visual effects serve as a journal of an imagined response to real, unthinkable events.

Join us after the show on Saturday, April 11, for a discussion about Holocaust memory and memorialization facilitated by Rabbi Steven Philp, featuring Concentration director and Mishkan’s Director of Livestream Anna Gelman and poet/playwright Arne Weingart. While not produced by Mishkan Chicago, Concentration features the behind-the-scenes work of Mishkan Builders Anna Gelman, Zach Weinberg (Mishkan’s Director of Programs), and Eliot Colin, and the onstage talent of Jourdan Lewanda, Mishkan’s Rabbinic and Ritual Assistant.
