Tisha b’Av
On Tisha b’Av we remember the most painful moments of our people’s history. While the destruction of the the first and second Temples in Jerusalem are the big headline losses, this holiday has become a container for our collective pain over generations and into the present, and an opportunity to examine our own role in causing harm to ourselves and others.
It is the one other 25 hour fast day on the Jewish calendar along with Yom Kippur, but while the Yom Kippur fast has a redemptive and healing quality to it, the fast of Tisha B’Av has a mournful, regretful quality to it.
Join us for a meal, text study, and discussion about the holiday before we embark on our traditional reading of Eicha (Lamentations).
While we will be charging for the dinner and text study, anyone is welcome to join us for the ritual elements at no cost
