Every year, refugees arrive to Chicago – fleeing violence and persecution – and many are survivors of torture in their home countries. One of the most well-known places for these survivors to find healing is the Marjorie Kovler Center. On Tisha b’Av morning, we’ll gather at the Kovler Center to learn about how Jewish individuals and communities throughout history have built resilience – even through trauma. Then we’ll take a tour and learn about the Center’s integrated approach to trauma and healing, as well as how we can support refugees and survivors of torture. People of all ages, including families with children are welcome. We’ll offer age-appropriate programming for kids while adults learn and tour the center.
